The Global X Europe Focused Defence Tech UCITS ETF (EDEF LN) seeks to invest in
companies that are positioned to benefit from technology, services, systems, and
hardware that cater to the defence and military sector (“Defence Tech”), with a
particular focus on companies generating their revenue in Europe. This includes
companies that build and manage cybersecurity systems, develop artificial
intelligence, big data and surveillance technologies, and manufacture advanced
military systems and hardware such as drones, radar systems, and defence-grade
aircraft and vehicles.
ETF Objective
The Global X Europe Focused Defence Tech UCITS ETF (EDEF LN) seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Mirae Asset Europe Defence Tech Index.
Since 2020, European defence spending has grown at a 12.9% annualised rate. In 2024, Europe accounted for 26% of global military spending, up from 19% in 2018. (Source: Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, 28 Apr 2025).

Defence Tech can span a range of themes, including industrials, cybersecurity, AI, and augmented reality. However, unlike the civilian marketplace, defence revenues are substantially tied to military needs, which are typically uncorrelated to general economic cycles.
